III. COURSE INSTRUCTOR/AUTHOR
SFC (ret.) Mark E. Keller presents this course in a Soldier-to-Soldier format. He is neither a psychologist nor a social worker
and will not present this course in that fashion.
It is, rather, presented by a soldier who has seen PTSD firsthand from three tours in Vietnam (1969-1971)
as an aerial scout (B Trp, 1/9 Cav), helicopter doorgunner (Co B, 229th AHB), infantryman (B Trp, 1/9 Cav) and Ranger (Co H, 75th IN).
His awards include three Purple Hearts, the Distinguished Flying Cross, Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Aircraft Crewman’s
Badge and others.
With almost forty years of reflection on this subject, during which he completed a total time of 27 years in US Army
and National Guard service, SFC (ret) Keller has both personally dealt with and helped others deal with the inevitable
consequences of combat zone service.
Mentoring and instructing come naturally after many years in service in leadership positions.
And so presentation of this critical subject by a mature and trusted sergeant who “has been there” ensures that a
service member or civilian employee attending this course will gain great benefit for both continuing service
and personal/family welfare.
