Advanced Caribbean Stud Strategy: Caribbean stud poker is a fairly easy game to learn
and play in most cases. The game, in essence, requires that your hand
beat the dealer’s hand. You put up a bet and get to see your full hand and
one of the dealer’s cards. If you like your chances, you can put up a
raise of two times your original bet. If you don’t like your hand,
you fold. If the dealer does not have ace king high or better (a qualifying hand)
and you did not fold, you win your initial bet and push
on the raise, regardless of what you hold.
If the dealer does have ace king high or better, you win if your hand is better
than the dealer’s and you win odds on your raise depending on the strength of your hand.
Playing Caribbean stud is certainly one of the nicest ways of clearing a casino bonus.
Basic Caribbean Stud Ideas: There are two brute force approaches to Caribbean stud.
One is simply to raise each time and hope for the best. If you play Caribbean stud this
way, you will give the house the highest edge it can expect at nearly
any online casino at about 16.6 percent. The other is to raise on any pair.
This strategy is much better, conferring a house edge of only about 5.5 percent.
Advanced Caribbean Stud Ideas: A more sophisticated Caribbean stud strategy
is to raise on any pair, but also raise sometimes with ace king high.
Michael Shackelford’s Wizard of Odds website suggests that a player can reduce their edge to
around 5.2 percent by raising with ace king if the dealer shows
anything but ace king and if you have a card to match his upcard,
raising with ace king queen or ace king jack if the dealer does have
an ace or a king showing, and raising with ace king queen if your
fourth card is higher than the dealer’s upcard.
